Hi, I’m Christian Rüsken.
I’ve been developing software for over 30 years and working professionally in IT since 2002.
Even so, the projects on ruesken.net are something different for me.
I don’t develop things here because a client has written a requirements specification. I develop because I have an idea and want to see if I can turn it into something truly great.
I am primarily interested in programs that perform a specific task well without constantly getting in the way.

It usually starts with a small problem.
Something is bugging me.
A process takes longer than it should. An existing piece of software is unnecessarily complicated. Or I’m simply missing the exact feature I need right now.
That’s when a new project eventually takes shape in Visual Studio.
Some ideas fade away. Others turn into applications like rsk.guardian, rsk.rename, or rsk.qr.
What they all have in common: I would use them myself.
For me, that remains the best starting point for good software.
A few things are important to me.
I like software that makes sense.
I don’t want to create a new user account for every application.
I don’t want to have to upload my files to some cloud when there is absolutely no technical reason to do so.
And I’m not a fan of turning every little program into a monthly subscription.
That’s why I try to build my own applications the same way.
Not because it’s the next big software trend.
But because that’s how I like using software myself.
